Edit vs. extend: inpainting and outpainting

Inpainting changes content inside the existing frame. Outpainting generates new content beyond the original edges. Picking the right one decides which tool you open.

Inpainting works on pixels that already exist. You describe the change and getimg.ai regenerates that part of the image while the rest of the composition stays put.

Where: attach the image in the Content Generator, or open it in full view and use the edit prompt box.

How to get better AI Canvas results

Generative edits are probabilistic. Complex changes and large extensions often take a few versions before one holds up, so plan on iterating rather than expecting the first output to ship.

Start with a clean source High-resolution, sharp originals extend and edit better than compressed or blurry files.
One edit at a time Describe a single change per generation, then run the next edit on the result.
Be specific about the change Name the object, the material, and the position. Vague prompts move things you wanted left alone.
Extend instead of cropping When you need a different shape, outpaint the frame rather than cutting into the composition.
Avoid very large ratio jumps Stepping 1:1 to 16:9 holds together better than a single jump from 9:16 to 21:9.
Generate a few versions Run the same prompt twice and keep the stronger result. Originals are never overwritten.
