How to Generate Videos with AI? Step-by-Step Tutorial
Step 1. Choose the Right Mode
Firstly, you need to select the mode that best suits your project. Here's a breakdown of each:
Standard: your go-to mode for most video creations.
Text to Video: describe the video you want in words, and Video Generator will create it.
Image to Video: start with a still image and a text prompt. The image will become the first frame of your video, and the text will guide the rest of the animation.
If an image is uploaded, the Video Generator adapts the output to a common aspect ratio based on the input (e.g., 1:1, 9:16). If only text is used, it defaults to 16:9.
Live: breathe life into your drawings and sketches.
Provide a text prompt describing the desired animation.
Optionally, upload an image (a sketch or a drawing) to serve as the starting point.
If an image is uploaded, Video Generator adapts the output to a common aspect ratio based on the input (e.g., 1:1, 9:16). If only text is used, it defaults to 16:9.
Subject: star a specific character in your video.
Describe the scene and action you want in your video.
You need to upload an image of the character you want to feature. The Generator will place your character into the video and animate them according to your prompt.
Adapts to a common aspect ratio based on the uploaded image.
Director: take control of the camera.
Text to Video only: this mode focuses on crafting dynamic camera movements and zoom effects.
The aspect ratio is always 1:1 (square).
No matter the mode, the length of the video is always 5 seconds.
Step 2. Write a Prompt
This is where you describe the video you want to create. Be as clear and descriptive as possible. Here are some tips:
Be specific: instead of "a dog," try "a golden retriever puppy playing with a red ball in a sunny park."
Describe:
actions (e.g., "running," "jumping," "smiling," "exploding")
the environment (e.g., "a bustling city street," "a quiet forest," "a spaceship cockpit")
the mood (e.g., "happy," "sad," "mysterious," "exciting," "peaceful").
lighting (e.g., "bright sunlight," "dimly lit room," "neon lights," "soft, diffused light").
Director mode: add camera movement (Truck left/right, Pan left/right, Push in/Pull out, Pedestal up/down, Tilt up/down, Zoom in/out, Shake, Tracking shot, Static shot) by choosing it from the options below the prompt box.

Step 3. Upload an Image (Conditional)
Depending on the mode you've chosen, you may need to upload an image:
Standard: optional. Upload an image to use as the first frame of your video.
Live: optional. Upload a sketch or drawing to bring it to life.
Subject: mandatory. Upload a clear image of the character you want to feature in your video. This image should contain only one character, no other people.
Director: not supported. This mode relies solely on your text prompt.
Upload an image from your device, or choose a picture from your getimg.ai Gallery or the AI Generator.
Step 4. Create Soundtrack (Optional)
In every mode, you can automatically generate a soundtrack for your video.
To do so, simply check the box next to "Generate soundtrack."
The audio will be created based on the generated video content and your prompt, providing a fitting musical accompaniment to the events in the clip.
Step 5. Generate Video
You're ready to create!
Click the "Generate video" button and wait for the generation process to finish. Once it’s complete, you can download the video to your device.
That's it! You're now ready to start creating your own amazing 5-second videos. Have fun, and let your creativity flow!
