Guide to Using FLUX Kontext Image References
Use existing images to inspire new creations and quickly learn to leverage Kontext References with getimg.ai’s FLUX.1 Kontext [pro] model.
What are FLUX Kontext References?
Kontext References allow you to use an existing image as inspiration or as a direct visual reference when generating new images. This feature is available in Image Generator with the FLUX.1 Kontext [pro] model selected.
For example, you can:
- Copy or adapt the visual style from your reference image.
- Extract or incorporate specific elements like objects, patterns, clothing, or design details into new scenes.
- Combine visual references with text prompts for entirely new creations.

Step-by-Step Guide to Kontext References
Step 1: Open Image Generator and Select FLUX.1 Kontext [pro]
Open getimg.ai, navigate to the Image Generator, and select the FLUX.1 Kontext [pro] model from the available options.
Step 2: Describe Your Desired Image
Write a clear, conversational description of what you want the AI to create. Examples include:
- "Turn this into a futuristic cityscape."
- "Use the fabric pattern from this dress to create a matching jacket."
- "Make this character into an action figure displayed in a toy box."
Step 3: Upload Your Reference Image
Under the Image Reference section, add the image you'd like to use as a reference. You can upload your image in these ways:
- From your device: drag and drop the file into the upload area, or click the upload button and manually select the image.
- From previous generation results: drag an existing generated image or hover over it and click the "Use as image reference" icon.
Step 4: Generate
Click Generate to create your new image. After a short wait, your image will appear. Carefully review the results to ensure they match your vision.
If needed, continue iterating by using your generated image as a reference for further creations. However, if you plan on extensive edits to a single image, we recommend switching to the Text Editing feature in the Image Editor.
