Guide to Image Editing Basics
Learn the basics of image editing in getimg.ai: how to enhance, restyle, and transform images using simple prompts.
How It Works
Image editing in getimg.ai happens directly inside the Content Generator. No need for layers, masks, or separate editing tools.
You can edit in two main ways:
- Using the full image view (for previously generated or uploaded images).
- Using the main prompt box (for previously generated or uploaded images, as well as new uploads)
Option 1. Edit from Full Image View
If you’re editing something you’ve already generated or uploaded before:
- Click the image to open it in full view.
- The prompt box will appear just below the image.
- Write your edit prompt (e.g., remove the text on the wall, make it black and white) and click the arrow.
You can use the left and right arrows to move between images while editing in full view.
Not sure what kind of edits you can make? Available options include (but are not limited to):
Additionally, to the right of the edit prompt box, you'll find three icons that allow you to:
Option 2. Edit from the Main Prompt Box
Step 1. Head to the Content Generator and add an image.
- Click the file with a plus icon (📄➕) in the prompt box and choose your image from the Generated or Uploaded tab (you can also upload a new one), or
- Drag and drop it directly from the Content Generator gallery, or
- Hover over an image in the Content Generator gallery, click ⋯, and select Use image.
Step 2. Write your edit prompt.
You can change a single thing, or chain multiple edits in one prompt.
Examples:
- make the lighting warmer and add a cup of coffee on the table
- turn this photo into an oil painting.
Step 3. Press the arrow in the prompt box to generate.
A new, edited version will appear, while your original stays unchanged.
That’s it! Now it’s your turn. Try starting with a simple edit, then combine multiple changes within one prompt to see how powerful this feature is.
